In the 94th minute, unbridled joy broke out for Chelsea and interim manager Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola howling at the heavens and gifted the stand-in Chelsea manager a career-defining moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane was the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch in class, making the recollection of Fernández's crucial intervention one to warm the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Stark Contrast in Pedigree

On the City bench stood the era's defining coach, a man with four decades of silverware for football's giants Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, stood a former coach at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and stepped up to make his first-team debut after being seconded from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.
